Over 70 guests have expressed an interest in participating in this walking holiday.
A short meeting will be held on Monday 6 December (venue Scout Hut - small room) at 12.15pm to ensure that all prospective leaders - either walking or other social activities - can be nominated or volunteer to assist in the planning of this event
A WALKING SHORT BREAK
Aughton & Ormskirk U3A in conjunction with HF Holidays Ltd have organised a short break at
Newfield Hall, Malhamdale,
South Yorkshire Dales. Newfield Hall stands at the end of tree-lined drive in two acres of mature grounds and has spectacular views across the fells. Built in 1856 by William Alcock, the country house retains its 19th century ambience with its pillared entrance, baronialhall and courtyard.
Newfield Hall has 4 star Visit Britain rating and an indoor heated swimming pool.

MONDAY AFTERNOON SHORT WALKS

This group walks on the 4th Monday of the month starting at 1.30pm. Walks are local, leisurely and over easy terrain and around 4 or 5 miles. Just turn up at the starting place for any Monday walk. But please contact the coordinator if you need more details. Please wear good footwear for all walks.
Monday 27th September: Lydiate. Leader: Sue Watkinson. Meet in Hall Lane, Lydiate, (next to Our Lady's RC Church) Grid Ref: 364 052 at 1.30 for a walk past Lydiate Hall, along the Cheshire Lines and the Leeds Liverpool canal. Refreshments available after this walk
Monday 25th October: Westhead. Leader:Ann Robinson. Meet in the car park of the Prince Albert pub, Wigan Road, Westhead at 1.30 for a walk around Lathom area.
Monday 29th November. Haskayne. Leader: Elizabeth Beeston. Meet in the car park at the Ship Inn, Haskayne (by canal) at 1.30 (Grid ref: 364 082).
December: No Monday walk
N.B. Some walks start in pub car parks at which you could get lunch beforehand and/or a drink afterwards.
Remember - you can just turn up at the starting place for any Monday walk.

LONGER WALKS (Thursdays)
This group walks at a leisurely pace on not too difficult terrain with a pub lunch stop where possible. The distance is usually between 7 and 11 miles. Please wear good footwear and carry waterproofs for all walks Coordinator: Tom Hodson 421 676 .

MEDIUM AND SLOWER WALKS
This group meet at 1000 for 1015 start and aims to keep healthy by a 5-7 mile walk at an easy pace with a good social interaction over lunch at the end of the walk.
