This group organises some enjoyable events, some small but mostly large groups at a cross section of theatre, musicals, opera, ballet, plays, Shakespeare, etc. Travel to these events is usually by coach. There are also occasional theatre planning meetings in the Scout & Guide HQ Current theatre trips: Tuesday 2 December – “A Taste of Honey” at Royal Exchange, leave 1745, ticket £18.50 Wednesday 17 December – Liverpool Welsh Choral Carol Concert at the Philharmonic Hall, leave 1815, ticket £20. Monday 22 December – “Boeing, Boeing” (mischievously funny) at The Playhouse, leave 1815, ticket £18.50. This is our Christmas Show, we will have a little Christmas drink and nibbles in the bar afterwards. Friday 2 January 2009 – “The Emperor’s New Clothes” at the Unity Theatre, Liverpool. Ticket £6.50. We will travel by train and can have a bite at “The Quarter” before we go, as it is an early 1730 start. Thursday 8 January – “Great Expectations” at the Library Theatre, Manchester. Leave 1745, ticket £22. Tuesday 13 January – “Mother Goose” at the Everyman, Liverpool. Leave 1700. We will have a meal at the Everyman Bistro, before going to have great fun at the panto. Ticket £19 (the meal is not included in the price) Monday 19 January – “See how they run” at the Royal Exchange, Manchester. Leave 1745, ticket £22.50 Tuesday 17 February – “True Love Lies” at Royal Exchange. Leave 1745, Ticket £22.50 Thursday 5 March – “Rock and Roll” Tom Stoppard’s new play tracing the Czech’s road to freedom from the Soviet yoke, 1968-1990. Library Theatre, Manchester. Leave 1745, ticket £19 Tuesday 17 March - “The Caretaker” by Harold Pinter at Bolton Octagon. Leave 1800, ticket £16.50 Please make all payments by cheque only, payable to Aughton and Ormskirk U3A. All trips can be booked at the Horizons coffee morning. Please pay when you book and make cheques payable to AUGHTON & ORMSKIRK U3A All coaches leave Long Lane promptly at the time specified. To avoid congestion at the scout headquarters cars must be left on the Christ Church School Car Park for the evening trip and, a charge of £1 will be levied per car as a contribution to School Funds Please double-check what outings you have paid for and the leaving time and put dates in your diary when you have booked as some people have turned up when they haven't booked.
