The table tennis group meets every Thursday from 1300–1700 at the Scout & Guide HQ.
We play doubles on two tables and you don’t need to bring your own bat as bats are provided. There is a balance of male and female players and a good range of abilities.
New members are very welcome to join in the fun.

The second 'annual' inter-U3A table tennis challenge match was won by reigning champions Mawdesley U3A recently. Friday 13th held no terrors for the Mawdesley A crew, as they beat Aughton & Ormskirk A by the narrowest of margins.
Mawdesley, being last year's winners, organised the event and the same four U3As took part: Aughton & Ormskirk, Maghull, Upholland and Mawdesley. As Mawdesley Village Hall was unavailable, Maghull U3A kindly offered the use of their 'home' venue, the Baptist Church hall. This was ideal, with room for 3 tables and plenty of seating for the hordes of travelling fans!
After the mini-league stage, we were treated to some much needed refreshments while the officials worked out the mid-way results, and then the top four teams joined battle in the semi-finals. From these, Mawdesley A and Aughton & Ormskirk A progressed to the final, a repeat of last year. The final was actually 4 games between the two pairs from each team, and the total scores added up to decide the winners; Mawdesley scored 71 points over the four games, whilst Aughton & Ormskirk scored 70. A net cord here, a missed edge there - it really could have gone either way!
Thanks to Mawdesley and Maghull U3As for putting on a great afternoon, and we look forward to preventing a hat-trick next year.
