SHORT COURSES 2012
A series of exciting and information Short Courses have been arranged commencing in February 2012. Certain of these courses will be offered of an evening, see individual courses from times and dates. The introduction of evening courses follow a request for evening activities from U3A members

Beginners Portuguese

A series of ten sessions to introduce beginners to the Portuguese language and enable you to communicate effectively on holiday.

Architecture 
Wednesday evenings 11, 18, 24th April 9th May
This series of talks will explore the architecture of old buildings and their history.
Venue Scarisbrick Village Hall 7pm until 8.30pm

Genetics and Heredity
Thursday afternoons 19th April, 17th May, 21st June, 19th July at 2pm at the Scout & Guide HQ.   Course fee £5
This four week course will explore the role of Genetics & Heredity in the development of humans and how we inherit our biological charateristcs from our parents.

Short courses starting May 2012

Chemistry can be magic 
Six weekly Wednesday Mornings 16th May to 20th June at the Scout & Guide HQ at 10am. course fee £15
The course will take participants on a journey exploring the magic of chemistry.

Quilling
A five week course Commencing Wednesday 9th May at 2.30pm at the Scout & Guide HQ. Course fee £15
This beginners Quilling course also known as paper filigree, is the art of rolling narrow strips of paper and then shaping them to make the most exquisite designs. Projects can range from simple gift tags and cards to elaborate pictures and floral displays,

WRITING YOUR LIFE STORY starting Monday 17 October 2011
A short course will commence on Monday 17 October which will guide participants in easy stages through the process of writing their Life Story. No prior knowledge of writing is required and the course is suitable for everyone. The fascination of reading your life story will bring great pleasure to your children and grandchildren. RACE ONLINE or GETTING GOING ON THE INTERNET starting Wednesday 5th October 2011
A series of sessions on e-mail, Skype and more computer topics. These sessions are aimed at beginners and people who have problems with computer application. They will be held on the first Wednesday of each month at 2 pm in the Scout & Guide HQ starting on 5th October. You can either bring you own lap top or you can use one of the U3As computers. The tutor for the initial sessions will be Joyce Nolan who is experienced in tutoring. More details of future topics.
