Local History meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 14.00 at the Scout & Guide HQ unless stated otherwise. All members are welcome No meeting in January The first half of 2012 will focus on our connections with the sea and as host country for the Olympics. Tuesday 7th February. A film showing how Liverpool evolved from a small fishing inlet to the city it is today. Tuesday 6th March. The legacy of John Hulley. Who was he? What did he do? Clue; the Olympics. Margaret Gibbon’s sensational Local History group summer outings have been a testament to her enthusiasm, organisation skills and eye for historical detail. Her two ‘Our Day Out’ expeditions attracted 100 members to St George’s church, Everton, the world’s first Iron afternoon tea. The group was so large it had to be divided into two for the guide.
These trips were followed by a Sunday afternoon at Scarisbrick Hall, which attracted 68 members to the guided tour, exploration of the grounds and afternoon tea. The group was so large it had to be divided into two for the guide.
