Digital Photography

This group is for people who have a digital camera to learn more about using them and be more able to handle pictures on the computer. The group aims to be helpful and interesting to members with widely different levels of knowledge and experience. The meetings are for most part presentations related to using your camera and handling and editing digital pictures on the computer.

Meetings

Meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 1400.

The meeting on the first Thursday is at the Scout & Guide HQ and will include judging the monthly competitions, pictures and presentations on different topics.

The meeting on the third Thursday is at Haskayne Village Hall. This meeting will allow members to experience hands on practice of the techniques presented at the first meeting of the month

Monthly competition

digital camera The group encourages as many as possible to put entries into the competitions as it helps to develop both photographing and creative skills. Each month there are 2 competition topics, a more simple one and one which is more creative; for the coming months they are:

Meeting	Simple topic.	Creative topic.
December	A sporting action picture	An Ornament, with lighting and Reflection
January	A Christmas Table	a montage of Rubbish
February	A Rainy Day	A Spider’s Web
March	Night Time	Cloudy Skies in Black and White

You can submit 3 pictures for each competition; taken anywhere and/or enhanced with editing software. You can see the winning pictures for each month

It is preferred that you email them to digiphoto@aughton-ormskirk-u3a.co.uk but if unable, take them on a memory stick to Horizons where someone will receive them, or to a normal meeting. Latest date for entry is the Saturday prior to the respective meeting; judging is by the members at the first meeting of the month and winning photos are to be seen on the web site.

Competition information is on the web site; go to ‘Digital Photography’ and then click on ‘competition information’. It is preferred that entries be submitted in advance by email to:-
