How to Start a Group

The Aughton & Ormskirk (A&O) U3A has over 85 activity/interest groups that cater for the educational and social needs of the 1,800 members. The life blood of a U3A is its activity groups and the A&O U3A is fortunate in having a very large number of groups that cater for the diverse needs of the membership.

Any member can put forward suggestions for a new group they themselves would like to establish or suggest an activity/interest group they would like to see established.  Ideas for new groups are always welcome and full support will be given by the Learning and Group Support Committee in order to ensure the new group becomes established and has an active membership.

If you wish to establish a new activity/interest group you should first contact David Blanchflower Chairman of the Learning & Group Support Committee on Tel: 01704 889736 to discuss your idea.

How to Start a Short Course

The Aughton & Ormskirk U3A has a reputation for the high quality Short Courses it has been organising for its 1,800 members over the past two years.  These courses are normally of five session duration and have in the past covered a diverse range of subjects such as Egyptology, Astronomy, Geology, painting, stained glass, meditation, ballroom dancing etc.

Suggestions for new short courses are always welcome. Please contact David Blanchflower the Chairman of the Learning & Group Support Committee on Tel: 01704 889736 with any suggestions you may have for a short course.

Expressions of interest are particularly welcome from U3A members who would be prepared to run a short course themselves. Full support will be given in advertising the course, arranging venues and producing teaching literature etc.
