U3A 5th Birthday Celebration

The 5th birthday Showcase week, held at the end of October 2008, was a wonderful success as we demonstrated to the local community and to potential new and existing members all that we offer. The 5th birthday committee members dreamed up the events, each group prepared posters and activities and dozens of members took part in the week itself - all made the whole week a tremendous success - as is obious from the photos below show. Morning: 10.00-11.30 Horizons. 1130 U3A Challenge semi final and final	Morning: 10.00-12.00 Literary morning with book reading, discussion, poetry, Shakespeare, U3A book stall - and buy signed copies of some of our "authors" books (Roy Chesters, Audrey Coney, Bill Hale, Bryan Perrett)
Afternoon: 14.00 Gardeners’ Question Time 13.45 U3A Challenge 1	Afternoon: 14.00-16.00 Languages: fun and games: French, Italian and Spanish with keyboards	Afternoon: 13.30-17.00 Table Tennis. 1400 Ormskirk Town Trail (Local History) meet at clock 1400. 1400-1500 Tai Chi	Afternoon: 14.00-16.00 Tea Dance in Aughton Village Hall with Ballroom and Line Dancing. Ticket: £1.00 including cream tea (sold out)	Evening: 19.00 Performing Arts Showcase at Aughton Village Hall. Ticket for wine & supper:£3.00 (sold out)
Tea and coffee will be available each day. 'E-learning' will be in the upstairs room all week - come and see what you can do.
